I got lost and forgot where i was

I got lost and for a moment forgot where I was. I had to stop and think to remember where I was and what I was doing. I got lost today. Where I was and what I was doing was very little importance to me and was placed on the back burner. I didn't have time to think of things like that now. What day it was, if I remembered to pay the mortgage , and what was waiting for me at the office on Monday no longer mattered. I didn't care anymore. I no longer wanted a job nor a house. My task at hand was greater. Avoiding trees. I spent the day dodging trees up high on a mountain top.

It was quite out and still. No one was around. No cars for miles. No people for miles. I could hear fly's buzzing around me, the wind made the trees rustle and it was peaceful out. This is where people become lost. This is what I was looking for. I was looking to become lost.

It was summer time in the mountains, the trees were green and the grass was tall. Every climb time was constant and I could faintly hear the aspens "quaking". I could hear birds now and again. The sound of gears shifting and chains moving is beautiful and somewhat organic to me now and is part of everything that was happening around me. I'd peak out and begin to descend. Time would speed up and become warped to an outside viewer but my life was put into slow motion. My eyes would water and what was once still became blurred.

The sound coming from the leaves were put on mute now. The sound track to my ride had changed. The soundtrack to my life had changed. My hubs clicked away and tall grass slapped my shins. My breathing slowed and I forgot how tired I was or how hard I was breathing. I was lost in the moment. Things became natural. I didn't have to think anymore. Everything was happening on a subconscious level. The bike just did what it wanted to. I was going for a ride and it was taking me there.

The moment wouldn't last long and reality would slowly creep back into my mind. Like all good things they don't last. That is until I start to climb up the next ridge for I know I'll get to go back down....
